The Ad Hoc Report Writer module gives the non-technical user the capability to create an unlimited number of special reports. By simply "pointing" to the desired data elements and then specifying the parameters for selection the application extracts the desired data.

After selecting the data elements and records desired, simple commands allow the user to sort, filter, merge with other data, save, retrieve, re-sort, re-format, combine with key input data, consolidate with previously selected data, and perform other options prior to selecting an output alternative.

As to the output alternatives, the default output alternative is a multi-page printed, columnar report with titles and column headings. This is the standard output provided by most report generators. In addition, the user can also select to download to a diskette (for computer output microfilm), download to another personal computer (for use with any standard spreadsheet or graphics package), mail merge the data with user created form letters, or combine the data with data uploaded from a diskette.

Unlike other hospital systems, CPSI files maintain detail transactions. These transactions are neither summarized nor deleted for a user-specified timeframe. Access to this wealth of detail data so easily extracted and manipulated makes this module a very powerful management tool.
