Resident Assessment Instrument
The Long Term Care/Minimum Data Set application software provides the hospital nursing staff the ability to complete the very tedious and time consuming MDS reports in an expedient and efficient manner. The staff will be able to complete all phases of the Minimum Data Set, including the Admissions Face Sheet, the Quarterly Review, and the Resident Assessment Protocol Trigger Legend. A complete set of Nursing Care Plans are also produced by the system. The Care Plans are generated automatically based on the deficiencies recorded on the Minimum Data Set. They may then be maintained on a day to day basis as the patient care requirements change. A patient tickler report can also be printed to itemize all completion dates for the individual forms so that it can be easily determined when new forms are to be created.

All work on the new Long Term Care/Minimum Data Set system is done on a color, touch-sensitive screen in order to minimize the staff's time and effort on the computer. Also, this will allow nurses to work on the system even if they have had no prior computer experience. The Care Plans, although created automatically, allow keyboard interaction for the daily work. The minimum Data Sets and the Care Plans are printed on a laser printer to provide the maximum quality possible and to eliminate any need for pre-printed forms.
