Support Services

The quality of support provided is one of the most critical considerations in the selection of a health care information system vendor.  CPSI clients only have one number to call to receive support for any aspect of the CPSI System.  Hardware, software, and technical support are all provided by CPSI, and this Total System Support approach allows us to take any course of action necessary to resolve any issue.  Regardless as to whether it is a simple operational question or an emergency situation, our trained and professional support staff responds with prompt and courteous service.

In addition to normal business hours support CPSI provides 24 Hour Emergency Support and the Internet Call Management System gives clients the flexibility to enter situations and callbacks directly from their desktop at any time.

Protection Against Obsolescence

One of the unique features of CPSI's comprehensive support services is our commitment to keeping the CPSI System in tune with the changing information technology needs of our clients. By providing our clients with software and technology solutions that meet their information system needs, now and in the years to come, CPSI provides protection against system obsolescence and maximizes the benefit our clients receive from the investment in the CPSI System. To accomplish this, CPSI provides our clients, under active support agreements, with software updates as they become available and invests substantially in the research and development of new application software and improved technology solutions.

Software Updates

Through CPSI’s system enhancement program, the software applications that comprise the CPSI System are continually reviewed and updated with the resulting improvements included in the numbered releases available to all our customers through CPSI’s General Support Agreement.  Regular system enhancements ensure our clients that their information system is kept abreast of the latest changes in the healthcare industry for both operational and governmental requirements.  Virtually all enhancement suggestions come from our customers and are prioritized by our customers through participation in regional and national user group meetings.

CPSI augments the value of our enhancement releases by providing online education sessions.  The online education sessions present our clients with an opportunity to become familiar with upcoming software improvements and prepare for the changes prior to applying a release.  These education sessions are also provided as a part of CPSI’s support services at no additional cost to our clients.

Research and Development

Software:  CPSI pursues new application development as changes in the healthcare industry and our clients’ needs dictate.  Our goal is to keep the CPSI System the most complete single source electronic medical record (EMR) available to community hospitals.  Since CPSI designed and developed the CPSI System from the ground up, any new application offerings are fully and truly integrated with the existing CPSI applications and data files from the first day they are installed.  New applications developed by CPSI in recent years and made available to our clients include our ImageLink® PACS, Medical Practice EMR – Clinical Documentation, and Anatomic Pathology.

Technology:  The CPSI System is designed for use in an open industry standard processing environment and utilizes standard TCP/IP networking.  These two facts allow CPSI to take advantage of improvements in technology, as new technologies become available.  To ensure the system’s operating platform and peripherals are as current as the application software, CPSI continually reviews changes and advancements in hardware and system software technology to identify the best and most cost effective of new, proven technologies.  Over the years, the integration of new technologies has allowed our clients to see quantum leaps in system performance and functionality.  Additionally, the design of the system allows CPSI clients the opportunity to migrate to new technologies without the significant reinvestment in application software required by other vendors.

Users' Groups
CPSI has a national users group and numerous very active regional groups. Membership is open to all CPSI clients. Most of the regional groups meet on a semi-annual basis. The national users group meets annually. The user group meetings are organized and run by the users themselves. Specific program items are those as requested by the users. The enhancement review process includes active involvement of the regional and national users groups through our Enhancement Review Committees. These committees approve and prioritize all enhancement requests. Virtually all enhancement suggestions come from our clients through the users group organization.
