System Hardware

The system hardware used is the most technologically advanced equipment with the best price/performance ratio from our experience and testing. The servers are industry standard open system technology with superior modularity, so that processing power and storage can be added simply as demands on the system grow. CPSI’s use of off-the-shelf technology means that clients can benefit from the best of today’s server technology without fear of being locked out of tomorrow’s technological breakthroughs.

CPSI clients get maximum freedom in configuring their systems both when they buy them and as their needs grow. With CPSI, hospitals can grow their systems incrementally for the exact combination of speed, power, storage, and communications they need. One of the major benefits of the modular design is that almost any repair can be made quickly and easily on a replacement basis. This modularity and flexibility also means that it is a simple matter to incorporate new technology as soon as it becomes available, assuring the whole computing base will continue to be the most technically advanced system available.

CPSI servers feature:

Multiple processors
Onboard diagnostics with light path indicators
A minimum of 1 terabyte of fault tolerant RAID 5 disk storage
Redundant components power supplies, RAID controllers, NIC cards, and fans

Communications

The CPSI System is a client/server system utilizing industry standard Ethernet and TCP/IP network protocols. This flexible communication environment provides fast, efficient Local Area Network (LAN) communications by utilizing industry standard Ethernet bandwidths of up to 1 gigabit.

The CPSI System is designed to provide efficient HIPAA compliant communications over the hospital’s Wide Area Network (WAN). Remote communication options include the use of dedicated 56K lines, T1 lines, and ISDN lines as well as standard Internet connections. CPSI’s client software, ClientWare®, provides secure Virtual Private Network (VPN) communication via the Internet and an optional Application Portal allows system access utilizing only Microsoft’s Internet Explorer.

Peripheral Equipment

The CPSI System is designed to utilize industry standard peripheral equipment and, in most cases, allows our hospital clients to continue to benefit from their prior peripheral equipment investments. CPSI’s use of standard off-the-shelf technology also allows our clients to go to the market and find the best price for any peripherals they may need to complete their system. However, if desired, CPSI is a single source provider that is ready to supply all of the peripheral equipment necessary to support system operations. Workstations, mobile computers, barcode readers, biometric authentication, RFID, employee time clocks, hardware based single sign-on solution, scanners and multiple printer options are all available from and supported by CPSI.
